Weekend dining

May 10, 2010

On the road, Part I — Philadelphia. Dinner Friday night at the Austrian Village — homemade bratwurst, red cabbage, German potato salad, Yuengling on draft. Can’t be beat. Dinner Saturday night, Cafe Michelangelo, the Italian restaurant run by Russian Jews. Potato gnocchi in pink sauce, caprese salad, limoncello and peach sorbet for dessert. Also difficult to beat.

Dinner Sunday night — a waffle and bacon at Perkins. New son wanted one of their burgers, and it was close to the theater where we’d gone to see Iron Man II, which is a cool movie. The waffle was good. The raspberry iced tea was awful.

Bound for DC this morning via Amtrak. Back home Wednesday evening. You and y’mama ‘n ’em be nice while I’m gone.
